Kloofzicht Spa in Muldersdrift has quickly shot up the ladder to be one of our absolute favourite spas in Gauteng at the moment. Part of the Guvon Hotels & Spas portfolio, this unassuming gem of tranquility will leave you feeling pampered but without a significant dent in your wallet!
You will find Kloofzicht Spa nestled in the foothills of the Zwartskops Mountains in the Cradle of Humankind (and yes, we totally copied that from their website) but that really is an excellent description of the location of Kloofzicht Spa and the surroundings are just breathtakingly beautiful.
This was a bit of a last minute booking for The Spa Life Team and yet we were welcomed enthusiastically and made to feel right at home by the staff at Kloofzicht. We were escorted to a lounge area (which forms part of the Spa Cafe) where we completed the necessary forms.
Once all the admin was out the way, it was time for us to get into our comfy spa gowns and slippers and we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful change rooms complete with lockers and steam rooms (i.e. the steam rooms are separate and not unisex).
The central focus of the spa is a glorious indoor heated pool, which has the most stunning backdrop of rolling mountains and you can easily forget that you are just 40 minutes or so outside of Johannesburg.
Just to the left of the indoor pool is a (piping hot!) jacuzzi, with manicure and pedicure stations on either side of the indoor pool, but somehow through clever design (and some appropriately placed glass doors) you don’t seem to notice that anyone else is around.
The spa also has a lovely garden area with loungers and umbrellas, which we can tell you from experience is the perfect spot to casually drink a delicious glass of wine and snack on some treats from the Spa Cafe (or in our case, some bar snacks from the main hotel – yes, they are that accommodating that they will attend to just about all your dietary restrictions).
Our only real point to note was that the jacuzzi was ridiculously hot. We asked if the temperature could be turned down a bit but apparently it is fixed to the outside temperature (or something confusing along those lines) which meant this was not possible. So, when we say “lounging in the jacuzzi”, we really mean “putting 3 toes in, then quickly jumping in and out repeatedly!”
For Kloofzicht we booked in as a couple and enjoyed one of the spa’s beautiful couple’s rooms. We had back, neck and shoulder massages followed by a classic pedicure and their “Mancho Man Foot Grooming”, which is really just a pedicure without the nail polish, but our guy enjoyed the machoness of it all too! The Princess Factor
We just couldn’t get enough of Kloofzicht, in fact, we spent hours there lounging around in the jacuzzi, in the pool, on the loungers. Our day was fantastic. The staff were lovely and friendly and accommodating and we were able to simply unwind and relax. Kloofzicht scores highly on the Princess Factor scale and earned an envious four and a half crowns (out of 5)!
Something that should really be considered when it comes to this spa is that the price of the treatments is most definitely not exorbitant and from our experience, we can say that it is money well spent! We are already looking to plan our next spa day at Kloofzicht!
